Equinox's dungeon music follows a pattern of starting off with a haunting melody, which eventually fades and is followed by several minutes of ambience before looping back to the beginning again. This can often work amazingly well in the game to create a mysterious atmosphere, but it's not going to work as well when heard out of context. Most of this music is really only recommended to download for those already familiar with it. Or, if you will, what I would suggest doing is downloading them and then just listening to the song intros. You'll get to hear the best part and if you wish to proceed with the ambiance, it'll be there. |
Original Music Composed by Tim Follin and Geoff Follin
Time: 5:45 Size: 7.91 MB 1 loop with fadeout Comment: The music from the Egyptian pyramid dungeon. This is rather scary-sounding in some parts. Time: 6:16 Size: 8.62 MB 1 loop with fadeout Comment: Music for the underwater Atlena dungeon. Time: 1:42 Size: 2.33 MB Intro only Comment This is an mp3 of just the intro part of the Atlena song. I made this because I like listening to this part of it, but I'm not as fond of the 5 minutes of silence and bubbling noises that follow it. Time: 1:49 Size: 2.50 MB 2 loops with fadeout Comment: Music for the fights with the Werebats and Trolls. A lot of pounding drums. Time: 2:43 Size: 3.73 MB 2 loops with fadeout Comment: Nice rhythm and heavy bass. This is the type of stuff that Tim and Geoff Follin did very well. Time: 6:20 Size: 8.80 MB 1 loop Comment: Deeso is the dungeon with the Aztec motif. I have a lot of trouble hearing the ambient parts of this song in the game because it's so quiet. Time: 1:27 Size: 2.00 MB Automatic ending Comment: This ending song is a little disappointing compared to the high-quality tracks that make up the rest of the game's soundtrack. Time: 3:27 Size: 7.74 MB 1 loop Comment: The music from the first dungeon sets the stage for things to come. Listen for creaking doors, footsteps, and the sound of metal being dragged around during the ambient part. Time: 0:19 Size: 458 KB Automatic ending Comment: Short but cool. Time: 6:44 Size: 9.25 MB 1 loop with fadeout Comment: The music from the pirate ghost ship level (one of the most unique settings in this game). The wind in this one fooled me into thinking I was hearing real wind outside. Time: 3:56 Size: 5.41 MB 2 loops with fadeout Comment: The overworld music is a softer remix of the Solstice main theme. Time: 3:22 Size: 4.63 MB 1 loop Comment: This is the music for Quagmire, the dungeon that's completely overgrown with wild vegetation. This one contains the weirdest sound effect by far - snoring after the initial fade-in! Time: 7:19 Size: 10.00 MB 1 loop with fadeout Comment: The snowbound final dungeon on wintery Death Island. The wind locks in the feeling of cold, but it sometimes overpowers the music. Really works best when heard in-game. Time: 1:18 Size: 1.80 MB Intro only Comment: This song is reminiscent of Dragon Warrior's title theme, though it's actually a remixed version of the main theme of Solstice. Time: 4:22 Size: 6.00 MB 1 loop Comment: Tori is a dungeon comprised of many roughly-hewn underground caverns, so there are a lot of dripping water effects. |
Time: 1:52 Size: 7.74 KB Sequenced by Rie Lenka Comment: Awesome midi synth take on the intro of the Atlena dungeon song. Time: 3:18 Size: 13.9 KB Sequenced by Rie Lenka Comment: Great midi rendition of the full Quagmire dungeon theme. |
Solstice doesn't have a lot of music, but what is there is extremely high-quality, top-notch NES synth. Realistic-sounding drums and cymbals, and very long complicated and intricate pieces that project an awesome sense of mood and atmosphere. |
Time: 1:20 Size: 1.83 MB Automatic ending Comment: This is the only one ripped from the NSF because I didn't feel like playing through the whole game again, so it's a little lower in quality than the others. Time: 0:25 Size: 594 KB Automatic ending Comment: The music that plays during the short intro that shows Morbius kidnapping Princess Eleanor. Time: 4:04 Size: 5.59 MB 2 loops with fadeout Comment: The only song that plays during the whole game until you either get a game over or beat it. Quite impressive. Time: 5:02 Size: 4.61 MB Remix by Shnabubula Comment: This is a jazzy saxophone rendition of the main game theme. The file was originally downloaded from OCReMix.org. Time: 4:46 Size: 4.36 MB Remix by Shnabubula Comment: This remix was also done by the same person who did "Pegasus Boots", but I don't know where I got it from because I don't see it listed there at OCReMix. It's a very lighthearted take on the title theme. Time: 2:56 Size: 4.04 MB Automatic ending Comment: This one really hits you in the face! At nearly 3 minutes in length, it's the longest intro song of an NES game that I'm aware of. |
Time: 1:52 Size: 17.4 KB Sequenced by Kizul Emeraldfire Comment: An amazing electric guitar version of the main theme. Time: 2:30 Size: 17.5 KB Converted by Electric Mayhem Comment: This was converted using NSF2MIDI. Time: 4:03 Size: 58.8 KB Converted by Flying Omelette Comment: I converted this one myself using NSF2MIDI. It's different from the above conversion because I used different instrument samples. Time: 2:55 Size: 54.1 KB Converted by Quietust Comment: An NSF2MIDI conversion of the title theme. Time: 2:36 Size: 37.5 KB Sequenced by PJ Barnes Comment: Another title screen midi. |
