The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Ocarina Songs

Ocarina Songs are melodies that you will learn to play on the Fairy Ocarina and the Ocarina of Time. You will learn them from various characters and places throughout the game and they have different functions.

After you sneak past the guards in the Hyrule Castle Courtyard, you will encounter Princess Zelda. When you're done talking to her, leave and you'll meet Impa on the way out. She'll automatically teach you Zelda's Lullaby. This song has various purposes throughout the game. Try playing it wherever you see the symbol of the Triforce.

After you wake up Talon at Hyrule Castle, go to Lon Lon Ranch during the day and look for Malon out in the middle of the outdoor area. Keep talking to her until she offers to sing a song with you and pull out your ocarina. She'll teach you Epona's Song. Adult Link can use this song to call Epona and ride her around Hyrule Field.

After you get Zelda's Lullaby return to Kokiri Forest and go to the Lost Woods. Follow the path through the Lost Woods by following the music (enter the doors where the music can be heard the loudest). You'll reach the Sacred Forest Meadow. At the very end you'll find Saria. Talk to her to learn Saria's Song. This can be used to communicate with her from anywhere in the game for clues about what to do next (and it has some other functions, too.)

Go the Royal Family Tomb in the very back of the Graveyard. Stand on the Triforce symbol that's on the ground in front of it and play Zelda's Lullaby. It will explode and open up an underground pathway. Check the wall at the end of the pathway to receive the Sun's Song. This song will allow you to change night to day and day to night at will.

After you have all three Spiritual Stones, a cutscene showing Ganondorf chasing Princess Zelda on horseback will occur when you approach Hyrule Castle. Zelda tosses the Ocarina of Time into the moat on the way out. Retrieve it, and she'll telepathically teach you the Song of Time once you have it in your hands.

When you become Adult Link, go to the Windmill Hut in Kakariko Village and talk to the Windmill Keeper. He'll teach you the Song of Storms.

When you reach the entrance of the Forest Temple in the Sacred Forest Meadow as Adult Link, Sheik will show up and automatically teach you the Minuet of Forest. Use this song to warp to the Forest Temple entrance any time you want.

After you beat the Forest Temple, return to the Temple of Time in Hyrule Market. Sheik will still be waiting there for you and you'll be taught the Prelude of Light. This will allow you to warp to the Temple of Time whenever you want to.

As you cross the rope bridge on the approach to the Fire Temple, Sheik will appear again and teach you the Bolero of Fire. You can now warp to the Fire Temple's entrance whenever you desire.

After you get the Iron Boots in the Ice Cavern, Sheik will appear and teach you the Serenade of Water. This song allows you to warp to Lake Hylia, to the island just above the Water Temple.

After you've beaten the Forest Temple, Fire Temple, and Water Temple, return to Kakariko Village and you'll be sent into a cutscene of the village on fire. When it's played out, Sheik will teach you the Nocturne of Shadow. This will allow you to gain access into the Shadow Temple and is also a handy way to return to Kakariko Village any time you want.

When you reach the Desert Colossus, enter it and you'll realize you can't go very far. Exit and Sheik will be waiting outside for you. You'll learn the Requiem of Spirit which will allow you to warp here anytime. (You'll need to return to young Link's world and warp here to complete this dungeon.)

As child Link, go to Lake Hylia and find the Scarecrow that's near the Lakeside Laboratory. Play him something on your ocarina, but you must make it up yourself. You can't play him any of the songs you've actually learned. Make up any 8-note song you want at all, and then come back to visit him again as adult Link. Play back the same exact song you played for him as child Link and that song will become your Scarecrow's Song. Throughout your travels, you will come across spots (usually on a high ledge) where Navi will fly over and turn green. Use the Scarecrow's Song in these areas to call Pierre, the wandering scarecrow. After Pierra pops up out of the ground, you can hookshot or longshot over to him to reach areas and items that you otherwise couldn't.

Note that the Scarecrow's Song does not get displayed on your subscreen, so you must either memorize what you made up or write it down.
