ONCE UPON A NIGHTMARE

Once upon a dream, there was nothing to see
The rains had washed away all there was to believe
The sky was ripped apart, pelting me with tears
Almost three million years,
It had wept through the darkest fears

Then, in the morning, came the light of a star
Sending a warning as it traveled afar,
"You're forgetting, you're forgetting
Everything we ever taught you
Remember all the wisdom of the heavens
That we have brought you now"

Then dark clouds surround
And lightning strikes down
What came before this raging war?
All it's sown are graves of stone
Why won't it all just end?

I believe that love leads to heartache
I believe that souls are very easy to break
I believe that time isn't the answer
For time can heal the wounds
Only if the present leaves soon

Once was the fire breathing life to us all
Quelled in the rainstorms of this turbulent squall
Never ending, never ending
Where even was the beginning?
I'm not even sure
That we're still alive anymore

Darkness swallows all who follow
Why are we born just to be torn
Away from all that we know?
Tell me, why's it so?

Once upon a dream, there was nothing to see
The rains had washed away all there was to believe
The sky was ripped apart, pelting me with tears
Almost three million years,
It had wept through the darkest fears
